The Rhythmettes

Members: Dorothy Compton, Mary Moder

Los Angeles based vocal trio, founded circa 1930. They performed on local radio variety programs and provided vocals for several 1930s and 1940s Hollywood films, including Disney Silly Symphony shorts and "The Wizard of Oz" (1939). They also sang with Al Pearce and Bing Crosby.

The trio consisted originally of Mary Ellen Fritzlen (aka Mary Moder) and Dorothy Compton (who had previously performed as the Dare Sisters), and Anna Lou Barnes. By 1934 Barnes had been replaced by Betty Bruce (aka Betty Allan). Compton left the group in 1934.
