Formed in the mid-1970s by Steve Gore & Steve Kretzmer, the Rascal Reporters have been recording and releasing music ever since. From their basement studio in Detroit, this duo delighted in confusing audiences & smudging the lines between genres over the course 7 studio albums, until Steve Gore's passing in March of 2009.

The group was revived in 2017, and now consists of Steve Kretzmer & James Strain. A new studio album, The Strainge Case of Steve, was released in 2023.
