Founded in 1937, as part of Radio Belgrade.
The ensemble was headed by the most important musicians - Mihajlo Vukdragović, Stevan Hristić, Krešimir Baranović, Mladen Jagušt, Vančo Čavdarski, Vladimir Kranjčević, Milen Načev and David Porcelijn. Since 2005, the artistic director and chief conductor of the ensemble is Bojan Suđić, who started his career in 1985 working with RTB Choir and in 1989 with the RTB Symphony Orchestra.
The Symphonic Orchestra of the Belgrade Radio-television became the Symphonic Orchestra of the Radio-television of Serbia in 1993, following RTB's name change.
