Clancy Collins

Real name: Charlie Collins

Effective period / Period of releases: 1967 - 1968

Brittish Jamaican sound system owner and producer. He ran a sounds system and record stall in Petticoat Lane market in London selling ska and blue beat 45s. He started his Collins Down Beat label during the rocksteady era of 1967.

In 1968, Charlie also launched a very short-lived (one issue only) imprint, called Sounds Of Jamaica.

After Collins Down Beat, Charlie places product with Trojan Records between 1969 and 1971 releasing several singles on the subsidiaries Jackpot (2), Duke Records (2) and Smash (2). His studio bands at this time were The Earthquakes, The Diamonds (2) and Dials.

In 1971, Charlie moved to the Ackee label before establishing his Sir Collins Music Wheel label in 1973. By 1975 Charlie had wrapped up Sir Collins Music Wheel in favour of the B&C Sound and Nice One imprints.
