Norman Beaton was a Guyanan born British actor and calypso singer, best known for his comedy roles from 1970s to 1994, particularly the title role in the Channel Four sitcom Desmond's. Other television credits include The Cosby Show, The Bill, Minder, The Two Ronnies and Z-Cars.

Born: 31st October 1934 in Georgetown, British Guiana (now Guyana).
Died: 13th December 1994 in Georgetown, Guyana at the age of 60.
