Welsh and fiercely proud of it, Sassafras were first formed in 1970 and play a mix of rock 'n' roll, progressive rock and country with the emphasis on harmony. The use of twin guitar solos has always been a distinctive feature of their music. They hold the UK record for the group performing the greatest number of live gigs in a year.
The band reformed in 2001 supplemented by Marco James on keyboards and without Ricky John Holt. In 2002 Richie Galloni took over vocals duties until the band split again in 2004.
