Josef Molnar

Josef Molnar (7 September 1929, Gänserndorf, Lower Austria — 21 November 2018, Tokyo, Japan) was an Austrian harpist and composer, former member of Wiener Philharmoniker. Molnar first visited Japan in 1952 at the invitation of the NHK Symphony Orchestra; three years later, he relocated permanently and worked as a lecturer and visiting professor at Tokyo National University Of Fine Arts And Music. In 1964, Joseph Molnar became a tenured professor at Ueno Gakuen University (上野学園大学). He served as the president of the Nippon Harp Association (日本ハープ協会) for many years.
