Greene drifted around New York in the 1930s playing burlesque shows and whatever jobs came his own way. He toured the world with various USO shows until he landed in California in the 1950s. Though he was in nearly 50 films, most of his acting came as a stand-in in scenes that required mulitple people rather than speaking roles. From there he played the local circuits but he never became a household name.
