Puck Fair

Effective period / Period of releases: 1987

Members: Tommy Hayes, Brian Dunning, Robbie Harris, Mícheál Ó Domhnaill, Sean Whelan (2)

Formed in New York in 1984 by Brian Dunning, the late Mícheál Ó Domhnaill and Tommy Hayes, Puck Fair blends traditional Celtic music with jazz and contemporary influences. They are often described as falling halfway between Nightnoise (2) and Relativity (2), two bands original members of Puck Fair have been associated with. Their interpretation of Van Morrison's Moondance has also been performed by Nightnoise.

The band was reformed in Dublin after a 21 year hiatus with only Brian Dunning returning from the original lineup, releasing the album Forgotten Carnival in 2008. The current lineup includes Dunning on flute, whistles, panpipes and bodhrán; Sean Whelan on guitars, oud and shamisen; and Robbie Harris on bodhrán and percussion.
