Dröne is a Scottish-based drone doom duo featuring multi-instrumentalist Markus Byth and bassist/drummer Scott MacDonald.

Formed in 2005 under the guise of , Dröne started life as a solo project of Godzilla On Demand guitarist Markus "Smudge" Byth as a platform to further expand the slower, drone-based style of music that glimmered throughout sections of G.O.D's music.

A 2 track demo entitled To the Shrines was quickly put together and handed out to anyone wanting to listen.

A name change happened towards the end of 2005 to Dröne.

2006 saw the first release under the Dröne moniker, it would be a collaborative effort between Dröne and Glasgow-based Drone band The Salamander Institute entitled Life & Death.

A steady collection of releases including live releases, demos, EPs, splits and collaborations have seen Dröne's sound change with each release.

As of November 2013 Scott MacDonald has joined Dröne as a bassist.
