In 1959 a band was formed that in 1962 became The Floyd Dakil Combo. They had a national hit in 1964 with "Dance Franny Dance". The band's name changed several times with variations such at The Floyd Dakil Four and Floyd Dakil & The Pitmen. The band broke up in 1967 having been unable to re-create the success of "Dance Franny Dance".
