Factory 81 (F81) was a nu-metal band from Detroit formed in 1997. The band changed its name seven times, and many different members until it was completed in 1998. The debut album, "Mankind," was released in 1999, after the band released a lot of demo cassettes and CDs. The debut was actually called "Manking," but the designer of the CD had written Mankind, instead of Manking. After leaving their label (their second one), the band had already finished the second long play, but F81 disbanded, because the bass player and the drummer left.

The previous band names of F81 in chronological order were: Sweet Revenge, Deed, Bad Obssesion, One World, Undone, Stain, Stereo Sludge, Factory 81
