Alfredo Calabró

Real name: Vicente Alfredo Calabró

Argentinian tango bandoneonist, composer, orchestra director (Buenos Aires, 19 Nov. 1911 - 5 Jul. 1977)

In 1927 becomes part of a juvenile orchestra with Orlando Goñi, joins up with Osvaldo Fresedo's orchestra by 1929.
Then he goes through a number of short tenures with the ensembles of : Anselmo Aieta - Eugenio Nobile - Alfredo Gobbi Sextet (1933) - Cayetano Puglisi (1934) - Ángel D'Agostino - Joaquín Mora - Osvaldo Pugliese (1937) - Elvino Vardaro & Lucio Demare (1938) - Juan Canaro (1942)
In 1942 funds his own orchestra with singer Hector De La Fuente.
In 1948 funds Orquesta Típica Campos - Calabró with singer Enrique Campos
Calabró continues directing his orchestra accompanied by singers José Torres - Jorge Ledesma - Alberto Aguirre - Oscar Corvalan until it's disbanding in the late 50s. Outside the Campos era, no recorded material from Calabró's ensemble is known.
