Anita Strandell

Swedish singer born January 20, 1940 in Hudiksvall.In 1966 she left the hometown of Hudiksvall and began a career as a vocalist in a dance orchestra in Gothenburg. After a few months, she joined the group Gimmicks, a group that achieved the greatest success abroad, including in Japan and Mexico. After Gimmicks disbanded in 1976, she formed the song group Tre Damer together with Diana Nuñez and Inger Öst. The trio performed together with artists such as Jan Malmsjö, Tommy Körberg and Cornelis Vreeswijk. Tre Damer split in 1981 but returned ten years later in a new constellation. Strandell has been an avid interpreter of Vreeswijk's songs and toured with the show Cornelis in our hearts. She has also made several appearances together with pianist Elise Einarsdotter and bassist Olle Steinholtz. She has also been a freelance radio producer for melody radio in Sweden's Radio.
Anita Strandell married Cornelis Vreeswijk in 1979. They separated in 1982 but the divorce was not finalized until 1987. Strandell later married Christer Svenson (born 1952).
