Raúl Ferrão

Raul Ferrão (born on October 25, 1890 in Lisbon – Portugal, died on April 30, 1953 in Lisbon), was a composer for revue, operettas, cinema, Fado and popular marches. He is regarded as one of the most prolific and sought-after composers for revue and cinema in Portugal.
With Raul Portela, Frederico Valério, Fernando de Carvalho, José Galhardo and Alberto Barbosa, he composed for some of the most commercially successful revues.
The biggest success of Fado in the world is due to him: "Coimbra", a Fado composition also known as "April in Portugal", celebrated all over the world by Amália Rodrigues.
