A death metal band from Florence, Italy, founded in 1991.Initially formed as a duo, Merdiolence recorded four homemade demotapes that were never released. Their first official demotape “Fart Of Doom” was self-released in 1993, as a four-piece band. They played only three live shows as Merdiolence, before changing their name to Cryogen in 1993, embracing a more technical/symphonic death sound.
Musically inspired by bands such as Pestilence, Carcass and Gorefest, Merdiolence (and later Cryogen) are well recognized among the earliest contributors to the Florentine and Italian death metal scene of ‘90s.
