Real name: William Desmond Anthony Pertwee

Bill Pertwee was an English comedy actor and author best known for playing the antagonist, ARP Warden Hodges, in Dad's Army as well as taking part in the popular radio shows Beyond Our Ken and Round the Horne. He also reprised his role as Hodges in the Dad's Army radio sequel It Sticks Out Half a Mile and played P.C. Wilson in You Rang, M'Lord?. He was also the founder and president of the Dad's Army Appreciation Society until his death.

Born 21st July 1926 in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England.
Died 27th May 2013 in Truro, Cornwall, England at the age of 86.
