George Evans

British danceband, and big band composer, saxophonist, clarinetist, and vocalist, who was active from the early-1930s. He officially retired from music in 1959, but would occasionally lead a big band on a part-time basis after the death of his first wife, in 1981.

Born: 7th August 1915, in Wood Green, London, England.
Died: 16th February 1993, in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyneside, England. [stomach cancer, aged 77]
