Melankolia is a solo project of Mike O'Brien. Formed in 2008, this project explores the laments of a past mired in sorrow. Neo-classical, ethereal ambient, with an experimental touch. 2 studio albums exist: 2009's "Nokturnum", more of a long-play demo, was originally released by Beneath the Fog Productions. This shyster label eventually went out of business. 2010 saw the release "Orpheus Down" offered by the German label Quartier23, and featured a much more polished, professional sound from the artist. 2012 will see the release of the third album, apprpriately titled "III". This 80 minute, 15 track work will also be released by Quartier23.
