Members: Michel Rousseaux, Franck Mamosa, Janusz Tokarz, Laurent Delenne, Patrick Wyrembski, Cédric Affre, Paul Cribaillet, Eric Halter (2)

French progressive rock group from Meaux, near Paris, France, rooted in local groups Saga, Rapace and Orange, becoming Orion and debuting live late in 1974. Disbanded in 1980 and reformed in 2011.

The band themselves quote Gentle Giant, King Crimson and Caravan as influences, and they also cite prominent French names like Ange (4), Atoll and Pulsar (9). Orion never got any of the breaks of their mentors and only ever released a single and small edition album that soon became collectable. A second unfinished album was also recorded before the band split (since issued on CD as Mémoires Du Temps).

Decades later the band reformed issuing a third album The Face Visible in 2015, and a fourth The Survivor, a concept album that talks about the future of the Planet and the uncertain destiny of humanity, in 2017. This new album calls on talented musicians from other horizons such as jazz.
