Brazilian band of soul and funk assembled in the 80's by singer, songwriter, and Tim Maia's nephew, Ed Motta together with his guitarist friend Luiz Fernando Comprido, under the name Expresso Realengo, but which was soon renamed to Conexão Japeri. The band recorded in 1988 (when Ed Motta was still 16 years old) the album Ed Motta & Conexão Japeri, bursting with the hits "Manuel" and "Vamos Dançar", starting a new chapter in Brazilian soul.
