Nicanor Casas

Real name: Nicanor Casas Aguayo

Nicanor Casas Aguayo was a Peruvian composer born in the mythical Creole neighborhood "Barrios Altos" of Lima, author of beautiful waltzes such as "El Capuli", "Amoroso", "El Enamorado", "Elisa", "Esther" and many others. Despite the controversy that exists with the waltz “Idolo” (whose authorship is disputed with Braulio Sancho Davila) he is still the one, legally considered its composer. The singer-songwriter is considered one of the forerunners of Peruvian Creole Music. He passes away on February 5, 1931.
