Biography
Opposite Corner
Members: Jon Christensen, Bobo Stenson, Åke Johansson, Kjell Jansson, Anders Kjellberg, Leroy Lowe, Lars-Urban Helje, Gunnar Fors, Gunnar Lindgren, Mats Hellberg, Annika Skoglund
Swedish jazz combo founded by Gunnar Lindgren in the 1960s as "Gunnar Lindgren In The Opposite Corner". A name that, however, was abbreviated to Opposite Corner when in 1971 he participated in the Swedish Radio's Club Jazz, which was also documented on LP. When Opposite Corner was voted to record the 1976 Jazz in Sverige record (on Caprice Records), however, Bobo Stenson had left the band and been replaced by Åke Johansson. The others in that edition of Opposite Corner were trumpeter Gunnar Fors, bassist Lars-Urban Helje and drummer Mats Hellberg.
