Pride Of The Cross evolved from Dave Scott (5) & Darryl Hunt's part-time band Baby Lotion. The band was championed by Phil Gaston, who wrote for and produced the band's only single. The group fizzled out after singer Cait O'Riordan became unavailable due to the success of her other band, The Pogues. Scott & Hunt formed a new band with Debsey Wykes called The Troubleshooters, but it ended quickly after Hunt, too, joined The Pogues - first as roadie, later replacing O'Riordan on bass when she quit.
