Bambi McCormick
Effective period / Period of releases: 1968
At San Francisco College for Women, Bambi appeared in several of the school's musical comedy productions, including "Lil Abner" and "Oklahoma!" After returning home, Bambi performed in many local musical comedy productions and spent a semester at the Pasadena Playhouse. While there she formed a trio called The Milestones. An old friend, Gordon Jenkins heard them and booked the trio for his Ziegfeld Follies Production at the Thunderbird in Las Vegas. Two years before, Gordon heard Bambi sing at a society benefit at his country club and wanted to bring her to Vegas but at the time her parents insisted that Bambi was too young. Now the time was right. After The Follies, The Milestones didn't stay together, but Bambi went on to appear at Dino's in Hollywood and then on a tour with Don Cornell to Harrah's in Reno and Tahoe and to the Stardust in Las Vegas. Ultimately all this led to a featured spot in "Pzazz '68," the bombastic review at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas, and her music manager presented her recording contract with Metromedia.
