When Loquillo was drafted for enforced conscription, his first band Los Intocables dissolved. The only remaining member of Los Intocables was Sabino Méndez, and he formed a new band called Los Trogloditas alongside Jordi Vila, Josep Simón and Ricard Puigdomenech. When Loquillo came back, the new band was known as Loquillo Y Trogloditas.

After their debut album Loquillo Y Trogloditas - El Ritmo Del Garage (1983) was met with a very positive response by the public, Loquillo Y Trogloditas would go on to become one of the most famous Spanish bands of the 1980's, with 11 studio and 3 live albums released over their entire career. Their 1989 album Loquillo Y Trogloditas - ¡A Por Ellos...! Que Son Pocos Y Cobardes surpassed 300.000 sales in the first weeks of its release, and it remained for 5 months of that year among the ten best-selling albums in Spain, peaking at #3 in August.

The band would dissolve in 2007 after one last show on the 30th of June in which they were the supporting band of The Rolling Stones.
