Debut full-length album by Korea’s only boss reggae band ‘Resetters’Korea's only boss reggae band, Resetters, releases its first album. The Resetters are comprised of Kim Jang-hyeop (vocals/guitar), Claire J (organ/chorus), Ahn Ak-hee (bass/chorus), Seong-hyeon Cho (drums), and Hyun An-sang (guitar/chorus), creating a unique British style reggae in 1969. They are the only band in the indie scene that stands for. The regular album “Give Me a Blue Beat,” released five years after its formation, is an album that reproduces reggae and ska sounds in a modern way. It will be released through “Dongyang Standard Music Company” and will be released as a cassette tape limited to 100 copies. .
The second coming of Boss Reggae, the origin of reggae
In the late 1960s, early reggae was called “boss reggae”. This music came to be combined with the culture of mods and skinheads in England, where youth cultures were clashing at the time. The Resetters were the so-called “Spirit of 1969”. of '69)” is a band that retains the spirit of the subculture of the time, and is creating a reinterpretation that goes beyond the so-called newtro.
Back to analog, analog to modern times
This album was produced in a very traditional way. It was recorded in one take using Lofamel Studio's 8-track reel tape recorder and equipment from the 1960s, and post-production was done through the sound making process of Dongyang Standard Audio Company's production to bring out the heavy and loose feel. The mix was handled by Jun Park, who is active as a dubweiser, selector, performer, and engineer for the Jamaican sound system crew 'Banya Sound System', and the mastering was done by Chris Long, who has worked with leading bands in the English-speaking world, including Khruangbin. Wood (Christopher Longwood) was in charge.
Synergy created through spectacular sessions and diverse participation
This album features the brass section of percussionist and all-round entertainer Kim Han (AKA Jungle's Han) and Kingston Rudieska, and reggae selector Shimmy, captain of Zion Boat, also participated as a chorus. Except for the last track “Mafia (Authentic Ver.),” which was recorded at Mall Studio, all songs were created in collaboration with Lofamel Studio engineer Hunjo, who has a good understanding of the genre’s sound. The album artwork and logo were created by skinhead/mod artist Ryu Ji-seon Margaret. The photo was taken by Park Jeong-geun.
