Oberu is a chillwave project started in mid 2023 by Lucas James, a British Columbian producer. Lucas James started music production when he was inspired by Yun Head, a Filipino rapper and producer but "didn't try actually producing good music until around late 2020 - early 2021." At around late of 2021.
He released his first album titled "Oberu - Behold" on August 10th, 2023 to a small group of followers on his Bandcamp page.
