Sture Olsson
Real name: Sture Olsson
Sture Olsson was born 1919 in Uppsala. Started to study piano at early age. After elementary school he was hired by the military music band in Uppsala were he learned both the french horn and percussion. Olsson was a member of Akademiska Kapellet i Uppsala between 1935-1941. Meanwhile he used to perform with the local orchestras at jazz and dance clubs.From 1941 Olsson worked as a civil musician together with Arne Hülphers and Alice Babs among others. Later on, in Gothenburg, he work with Sven Sjöholm and was an orchestra leader until 1956 when he was hired at Stora Teatern in Gothenburg as drummer and timpanist. He worked at Stora Teatern until retirement.
During 25 years Olsson has been a teacher at Musikhögskolan Gothenburg teaching mostly drum/percussion but also in instrumentation.
Olsson has arranged and instrumented about 5000 songs and also composed music such for choirs, chamber music, teathre and film music, orchestra music and a symphony
