For The Taking

It’s been said that when one thing ends, another begins. Well, in the case of Los Angeles/ New York-based hard rock quartet FOR THE TAKING, two things had to end. First, swaggering frontman Toryn Green’s time as lead vocalist for multi-platinum rockers FUEL and later, Finnish Goth rock outfit APOCALYPTICA , had to conclude. Then, Long Island hard rockers A FAREWELL FIRE needed a new direction and once united with AFF’s guitarist Eddie Raccioppi, bassist Mike Zagel, and drummer Ray Rossler, FOR THE TAKING was born.

Inspired by the likes of ALICE IN CHAINS and TOOL, FOR THE TAKING fashion infectious, melodic hard rock that would remind one of BREAKING BENJAMIN or early STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, all punctuated by Green’s distinctive vocal delivery, which he’d became known for during his years with FUEL. FOR THE TAKING possess an emotive, innovative style that’s bound to inspire a larger shift towards originality amid a genre that’s overrun with uniformity.

FOR THE TAKING’s powerful sound first started taking shape after Green began working on material with Brian Vodinh of 10 YEARS, material that will serve as the foundation upon which FOR THE TAKING’s debut will be built.

“It’s a new sound,” Green explains of the songs he’s been recording with FOR THE TAKING. “I think a lot of times, it’s a weird thing to have a modern sound and yet, maintain a sound that is completely original. With us, we’ve got a lot of the elements of what a modern sound would be, but with my voice it still has its own feel to it.”
