Larry Cheick
Real name: Seydou Diabaté
“Born in 1957, Seydou Diabaté aka Larry Cheick is an Ivorian reggaeman. Nicknamed the lion of Treichville, he became known with the titles “Ferima”, “Djandjou Star”, “Rendez-vous de l’Enfer” and “Code Penal”. In 1980, Larry Cheikh founded the group "Reggae Roots" offering reggae with Bambara colors and very political lyrics then launched a solo career, signing several albums including Sarajevo crime (1984), Penal code (1993), the 10 commandments of God Minus One (1994) and Trial (2002). In 2014, he won the Marley d'honor prize in Burkina-Faso during the festival called Marley d'Or. He died in 2019 from diabetes. ”
