The Rave-Ons

Effective period / Period of releases: 1965

Members: Larry Wiegand, Dick Wiegand, Harry Nehls, Lonnie Knight

Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA garage band.
A group of Richfield High School students (Richfield, Minnesota) form an instrumental cover band, The Knights. Lineup is Chris Katsamedus (guitar/vocals), Dick Wiegand (guitar), his brother Larry Wiegand (bass) and Dick Thomas (drums.) Dick Thomas left for military service, replaced by Skip Kovacs. Chris also went into the military and Lonnie Knight takes his spot on guitar.

The next year, Robbie Hardell (of Robbie and the Rave-Ons) is added as lead singer and the group adopts the name of Hardell's old outfit. Military duty calls again, this time for Thomas and Hardell with Harry Nehls taking the drum chair and Knight adding lead vocal duties. The band also shortens its name to merely The Rave-Ons.

In late 1964, the group records the first of four 45s. The group would disband in March of 1967 with some members joining South 40.
