Betty Boop
Real name: Betty Boop
Effective period / Period of releases: 1974
Betty Boop is an animated cartoon character created by Max Fleischer in 1930. She is the main character of her series, the Betty Boop shorts which appeared regularly between 1932 and 1939, and then sporadically in one-off shorts and Direct-to-TV films. She is often accompanied by her sidekicks, Bimbo and Koko the Clown, and she is known for her high pitched Boop-Oop-a-Doop catchphrase. Betty Boop is modeled after a pastiche of real life actresses and flapper icons including singer Helen Kane, actress Clara Bow, and Baby Esther of Harlem's Cotton Club (possibly a pseudonym for Gertrude Saunders).
