From Detroit, Magic Lady started as a female trio & later became a duo. The group formed by Linda Stokes and her husband Michael Stokes. They served as background vocalists for Enchantment, Bob Seger, Keith Barrow and Soul Searchers.

In 1982 Linda Stokes, Jackie Steele and Kimberly Ball released 'Hot 'n'Sassy' on A&M. The single 'Red hot Stuff' was an R&B hit in the USA and 'Hold Tight' became a cult UK soul track.
