Real name: David John Williams

David Williams was born in Edinburgh in 1952. He studied English and Sociology before becoming a professional musician and composer. Since he took up photography in 1980 his work has been widely exhibited and published. Williams is the recipient of a range of major awards and prizes including the BBC Television 150 Years of Photography Award. He became Head of Photography at Edinburgh College of Art in 1990
