Gerhard Kastner
German early music specialist and academic, born ~1930.
He began his recording career in the early 1960s, mainly on recordings of music from the renaissance/baroque era. His main instrument was the harpsichord, but he also played other keyboards (organ, regal) and early woodwind instruments (crumhorn, recorder).
Held a position at the Akademie für Alte Musik in Bremen, established in 1986, and later at Institut für Künstlerische Ausbildung/Alte Musik of Hochschule Der Künste Berlin where he taught the harpsichord.
