Big Joey morphed out of regular jam sessions in the basement of Tom Ray's house. They played completely improvised songs using conventional "rock" instrumentation.The name referred to the entity they laughingly said thaey channeled during our performances, and each show they played under a new name:
Big Joey & the Knobs
Big Joey Duck Butt Nailhead
