The Happy Chipmunks were an attempt by a company in Rahway, NJ to cash in on the renewed interest in The Chipmunks in the 1980s. Following a lawsuit by Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. over use of the word "Chipmunks" in their name, the group was renamed The Happy Hamsters. The company would later use one of these hamster characters, dressed in a Michael Jackson outfit still, as the mascot character and presenter for Amvest Video's Kid Pics series of VHS tapes.
