Michiko Takahashi

Michiko Takahashi is a renowned Japanese marimba performer and music educator, a professor at Musashino Academia Musicae. She debuted at the age of eleven with NHK Kokyogakudan. Takahashi graduated from the Tokyo National University Of Fine Arts And Music in 1964. Among many of her prestigious awards is the first prize at the International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition (1973) in Amsterdam. Toru Takemitsu, Hans Werner Henze and a few other prominent composers have commissioned works for Michiko.
