Originally known as Captain Speed, a later version of Turquoise featured keyboard player Bill Payne, who later went on be a founding member of Little Feat.

Their single, Hello Bill, was a big hit, locally. Managed by Tri-counties concert promoter Jim Salzer, the band had a lot of potential, but they broke up before just before their big break. Bruce Barlow went on to play with Commander Cody.
