Nervous Surface began in March 2022 as the start of Matty Brotherton's songwriting adventure. After college, Matty moved to North Carolina and continued writing songs there. By June of 2023, they had put together a band. Nervous Surface made their live debut on September 15th of that year at Bart's Mart in Charlotte, and cemented a spot in the North Carolina music scene.
