João Leite Neto
Real name: João Leite Neto
Son of a police officer, he spent his childhood in Itaporanga and Itupeva, where he stayed until he was 16, after moving with his family to São Paulo. He started in 1961, at the age of 17, at the newspaper Última Hora , went on to work at Diários Associados, Folha de S.Paulo and Edition Extra . He worked at Rádio Tupi , Rádio Marconi , Rádio Nacional , Rádio Bandeirantes and Rádio Capital , always standing out for his own style and beautiful voice. On TV, he started in 1970 at Rede Globo , being the first special reporter from São Paulo for Jornal Nacional, where he stayed until 1979.In 1997, he took charge of the Cidade Alerta program on Rede Record, replacing Ney Gonçalves Dias, who went to SBT, Broadcaster by Silvio Santos. He returned to TV for the second phase of Aqui Agora on SBT, in 2008.
João Leite Neto died at the age of 80 on November 7, 2023 due to complications from cancer. His death was confirmed by presenter Carlos Massa (Ratinho) in a post on Instagram. Married to fellow journalist Valéria do Amaral, João left 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
