DuChamp was a new wave band from Kansas City, Missouri that played devolved post punk with a funky backbone and a distinctly midwestern art-rock vibe that featured psychedelic synths and tense drums mixed with sweaty suggestive lyrics and melodies. DuChamp started in a tiny garage in Independence, Missouri in 1978 by three brothers (Will, John, and Tom Scanlan) and two friends (Fred Skellenger and Dave Mink). The first show was at the Kansas City Art Institute on April 14, 1979 and lots of packed shows followed at Kansas City rock clubs like The Downliner, Music Box, and Grecian Gardens and Lawrence Kansas' Off the Wall Hall. The group made a number of recordings at Chapman Recording & Mastering in the early 1980s. A later incarnation of the the band was known as Rearrangement.
