William DeVaughn

Real name: William Edward DeVaughn Jr.

American singer, songwriter, and keyboardist born in Washington, D.C. in 1947.
He is best known for his 1974 hit single "Be Thankful for What You Got", which reached the top ten on the Billboard R&B chart and the top thirty on the Billboard Hot 100.
DeVaughn started his music career in the 1960s, playing in local D.C. bands and working as a staff writer for various record labels.
In addition to "Be Thankful for What You Got", he released another album in 1980. Although he never achieved the same level of commercial success as his hit single, DeVaughn's music has remained popular among fans of soul, funk, and R&B.
