Kirsten Reinhardt
Kirsten Reinhardt (born 1977 in Lüneburg Heath) is a German author who writes children's books and plays.
In 1996, she graduated from the German School Tokyo/Yokohama (DSTY) in Japan. After studying theater studies and literature, she trained as an editor at the Berlin School of Journalism (BJS). She worked as an editor at the tageszeitung (taz).
In 2009 she won the Oldenburg Children's and Youth Book Prize for her as yet unpublished manuscript, which was published by Carlsen Verlag in 2011 under the title Fennymores Reise oder Wie man Dackel im Salzmantel macht. Critically acclaimed, the title has also been nominated for several awards and translated into five languages. She has since published further novels for children and a picture book. Kirsten Reinhardt has also been writing for the theater since 2019; her play Fennymore oder Wie man Dackel im Salzmantel macht - ein Antidiktatorentheater was invited to the German Children's and Youth Theater Meeting in 2021.
She lives as a freelance writer in Berlin.
