Canadian jazz guitarist and composer, born 19 August 1944 in Ottawa, Canada, though long based in New York City. Peter Leitch recorded frequently as a leader for several labels, primarily Concord Jazz, Jazz House and Reservoir. In his guitar playing career he has worked / recorded with some of his profession's greatest performers like Oscar Peterson, Ron Carter, Milt Jackson, Woody Shaw, Pepper Adams, Jaki Byard, Jack McDuff, Kenny Wheeler, Al Grey, and John Hicks, among others. He is no longer playing due to side effects from radiation and chemotherapy, though he is leading a 12 piece orchestra playing his originals and arrangements, which premiered its debut performance on November 30, 2018 in New York City.
