Yawning Sons is the culmination of two instrumental rock bands Sons of Alpha Centauri and Yawning Man. In 2009 they released Ceremony To The Sunset on Lexicon Devil - the same label which also released albums from Yawning Man, Ten East and Dark Tooth Encounter. A highly limited Yawning Sons/Waterways split 7" release followed in 2011 which had been mastered at Abbey Road Studios.

The core of Yawning Sons is primarily the members of Sons of Alpha Centauri and Gary Arce. However, several artists from the Palm Desert have also worked on the project including Scott Reeder from Kyuss, Mario Lalli also from Yawning Man and Fatso Jetson and Wendy Rae Fowler mostly noted for her work in the Mark Lanegan Band and Queens of the Stone Age.
