Dieuwke Aalbers
Real name: Dieuwke Aalbers
The Dutch soprano Dieuwke Aalbers studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague. She participated in masterclasses for Art Song with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Elly Ameling and was awarded a scholarship to study French Art Song with Pierre Bernac in St. Jean de Lutz, France. She studied 20th century repertoire with Cathy Berberian. Dieuwke Aalbers continued her studies in Vienna at the Musikhochschule. She was a member of the Dutch Chamber Choir and worked at the Opera house "im Revier" in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. She has made many concert tours to the U.S.A. (Carnegie Hall), Moscow, Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand, Bahrein and Greece. She was awarded the Silver Wreath by the Friends of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and received an award at the "Bourges International Festival of Experimental Music", France. In December 2004 she gave opera concerts and an opera work shop in Paramaribo, Suriname. She has recorded many CDs.
