The Abstracts

New Wave, post Punk group hailing from Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. Formed in '78 after a chance meeting of Randell and Gibbons at a John Peel gig. Initially the band borrowed John Hunt (7) on bass and David Laycock on drums from the Ideal Husbands. Later Paul Gardner (3) and Martin Pierce joined on drums and bass forming the core of the group. Lasting until circa '83 the band were unsigned but did a couple of demos - the most notable was at Woodbine Street Recording Studios in Leamington Spa with John Rivers as engineer.Mark Gibbons went on to release a solo single under the Abstracts name and did several gigs local to Stratford.
