Henrik Salander

Real name: Johan Henrik Salander

Swedish guitarist and songwriter turned diplomat.

He co-founded pop and rock group The Hounds in 1965, being one of their guitar players, together with Lasse Wallander. The duo similarily to Lasse Wallander and Brian Jones switched lead- and rhythm guitar during performances with the group. After their release The Hounds - Exodus / A Car, A Boat, A House, A Girl Like You became a hit in Sweden, Salander largely became the driving creative force of the band, penning most of their self-composed material together with bassist Jan BrĂ¥the. With the release of their second LP The Hounds - From The Hounds With Love and their respective singles, he became their sole songwriter and often collaborated with Anders Henriksson. After several hits, the Hounds disbanded in 1968

Salander then became a Bachelor in arts in 1970 and a Master of social science the following year, before working for newspaper Dagens Nyheter. During the late 1970s, he got a job in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden which enabled him to become an ambassador and diplomat for the United Nations during the 1990s and early 2000s. Though retired, Salander still maintains contact with the Hounds, who have done multiple reunions in the past

Born: 30 September 1945 in Stockholm, Sweden.
